Discounts
Discounts lower the price of a ticket. They're a simple way to reward early sign-ups, thank a partner organization, or run a limited-time sale. When a discount applies, the attendee pays less at checkout and the savings are shown right on their order.
Sunfish gives you two kinds of discounts, and the difference comes down to one thing: whether the attendee has to type in a code.
The two kinds
- Promo codes are codes an attendee enters during checkout to get a discount. Use these when you want to control who gets the deal, for example, a code you email to members, share with a sponsor, or print on a flyer. You can create a single code or generate a whole batch of unique codes at once, and set limits like a total number of uses or an expiry date.
- Automatic discounts are rules you publish to an event. They apply on their own, with no code for the attendee to enter. Use these for offers you want everyone to get automatically, like an early-bird price that's active until a certain date.
When to use each
- Reach for a promo code when the discount should be private, targeted, or tracked by who redeemed it.
- Reach for an automatic discount when the discount should apply to everyone who qualifies, without any effort on the attendee's part.
You can use both in the same event.

- Automatic discounts, build a rule and publish it to an event, like an early-bird deal.

Discounts may not be turned on for every account. If you don't see them, they might not be enabled yet, reach out and we can help.
