Automatic discounts
An automatic discount is a rule that lowers ticket prices on its own, no code required. If an attendee's order qualifies, the discount is applied for them automatically at checkout.
How it differs from a promo code
The key difference is who does the work:
- A promo code only applies when the attendee types it in. It's private and targeted.
- An automatic discount applies to everyone who qualifies, with nothing for the attendee to enter. It's public and effortless.
Use an automatic discount when you want the deal to reach all eligible attendees, like a sale price during a specific window.
Creating an automatic discount
From the discounts area of your event, start a new automatic discount and set:
- A discount amount, a set dollar amount off or a percentage off the ticket price.
- When it applies, the conditions that make it kick in, such as a date range for an early-bird offer.

Publishing it to an event
Creating the rule isn't quite the same as switching it on. Once you're happy with it, publish the discount to your event so it goes live. Until it's published, attendees won't see it.
A common example is an early-bird discount: set it to apply before a certain date, publish it, and every order placed before that date gets the lower price automatically. After the date passes, the discount stops applying and full price returns, no need to go back and turn anything off.
Double-check your dates before publishing. An early-bird that's live a day too long, or a day too short, is the most common slip-up.
Attendees see the savings applied on their order, just like with a promo code. To review how a discount is performing, see Tracking discounts.
